Home Funeral Guide
Home funerals are legal, safe, and therapeutic. There is no right or wrong way to perform a home funeral, as long as families are following the laws in their respective states regarding after-death care. Home funeral guides may charge for the education and consultations they provide, but a majority of the time spent with the families during the home funeral process is volunteered.
Guides are unable to charge for hands-on body care, transportation, assisting with paperwork, planning, or anything else deemed as a funeral service as that would be defined by the state code as funeral directing without a license. We believe that after-death care is most meaningful when carried out by loved ones, and do not seek to conduct the after-death care ourselves.
Home funeral guides provide practical, emotional support focused specifically on after-death education and empower family and friends to care for their dead at home. Guides relay the legal regulations of their state to families as they work through the steps to create their own home funeral plans. Home funeral guides can also facilitate clear communication between families, care teams, and other professionals like funeral directors, ensuring everyone is on the same page.
